Analyzing Fermi - The Scientific American Article

OPENING QUESTIONS: Let's start by making sure EVERYONE has their Kardashev articles in and done!

OBJECTIVE:   I will work with my group to analyze the picture/chart from Scientific American magazine during today's class.

I will work with my team to summarize that article during today's class

CALENDAR: No More Observations - It's just to light for too long (~10:30)

WORD FOR TODAY:

  • SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence)
  • Fermi's Paradox ("Where are the Aliens?")
  • Drake Equation
  • Kardashev Scale

WORK O' THE DAY:

Let's get Kardashev knocked out--- please?

If you are done with that, please take a gander at the picture/chart from Scientific American and see what sort of insight you can gain from that... it's VERY cool but kind of... different?

After that, we'll take a gander at the the article itself. We'll talk about it first though and see about breaking that up into chunks.

There is a lot of information there but keep in mind you don't have to read every word... I'll introduce my 'Skim Method' and we'll make use of that.
